Dear Sir/Madam,

The Indian Academy of Social Sciences (ISSA) shall hold XXX Indian Social Science Congress (XXX ISSC) from December 26 to 30, 2006 under the
auspices of Alagappa University at Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. Towards A New Global Society is its focal theme. There will be 26 Intradisciplinary and 34
Multidisciplinary Thematic Research Committees in the XXX Indian Social Science Congress. Details of the same are given on page 2. The XXX ISSC
seeks to discover, develop and disseminate newer scientific theories and methods capable of enabling the peoples of India in particular, and the peoples
of world in general, to enjoy higher quality of material, social and cultural life in harmony with Nature and Society. ISSA urges scientists of all disciplines
to come together to undertake the task of discovering systemic solutions for ever increasing hunger, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, disease, prostitutions, rape, murder, violence, discrimination, communal tensions and riots, oppression, violations of civil and human rights, corruption, black money, ecological and environmental crisis, etc. Policy planners, educationists, social activists and all those who wish to create a New Global Democratic Society are hereby cordially invited to the XXX Indian Social Science Congress. One can submit a research paper or a critical review/essay on themes/issues of his/her concern for any one of the 26 Intradisciplinary Research Committees/or 34 Multidisciplinary Thematic Research Committees/or for the focal theme, ‘Towards A New Global Society’ either in Hindi or in English. Each paper needs to be accompanied by an abstract within 500 words. Permissible limit of length of a paper is 7000 words or 30 typed pages on A-4 size paper. Last date for submission of abstracts of a paper is September 15, 2006 and the last date for submission of the full paper is October 15, 2006. Three copies of abstracts of a paper and three copies of the full paper along with its CD should be sent to the General Secretary, Indian Academy of Social Sciences under registered cover. Abstract should be typed on the given format. One should mention the code and name of the Research Committee in which he/she wishes to present his/her paper. A paper, which is not based on any kind of research/critical review, need not be submitted for presentation at the XXX Indian Social Science Congress. There is a provision for Ad Hoc Group Discussions on any issue of social, theoretical and methodological significance at the XXX ISSC. Those who wish to organize any such discussion on the theme of their choice are advised to write to the General Secretary, Indian Academy of Social Sciences. All those who wish to participate in the deliberations of XXX Indian Social Science Congress are advised to get themselves registered well in time by paying the stipulated registration fee. Free hostel accommodation, local transport and subsidized meal will be provided to all the registered delegates by Alagappa University. ISSA shall award Gold Medal for the best research paper presented at the XXX ISSC.
