IX ALL INDIA YOUNG SCIENTISTS CONVENTION


0100 PREAMBLE

The Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) organizes All India Young Scientists Convention with a view to enabling young Indian scientists to learn Science of Nature-Human-Society through collective interactive dialogues in order to be creative/innovative/original for playing vital role in development of science and Technology in India. Younger generation are now able to play an important role in empowering community for self-reliant in India for Science as a means. This has been evident globally as youths appeal to all Mayors through visitors at A Tomb at Hiroshima and recently at United Nations General Assembly by teen ager Greet from Europe seeking action on Climate Change.

0200 YOUNG SCIENTISTS DIVISION

The Indian Social Science Academy (Originally, Indian Academy of Social Sciences) was established on August 15, 1974 by the then young scientists opposed to ‘Brain-drain’, committed to develop a new science and technology for self-reliant development. All subjects of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Agricultural Science, Economics, Anthropology, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology etc) are represented in it.

ISSA has created a Young Scientists Division in order to remain young in all respects. The Division organises All India Young Scientists Convention every year. So far it has organized 8 sessions of it.

0300 IX ALL INDIA YOUNG SCIENTISTS CONVENTION

Indian Social Science Academy in association with Bengaluru Central University shall hold the IX All India Social Scientists Convention between Jan 17-21, 2020 at Bengaluru Central University. Young scientists doing doctoral/post-doctoral research, assistant professors, technical assistants below 35 years of age are welcome to it. All subjects of science of Nature-Human-Society are included in it.

0400 FOCAL THEME

‘Learning History, Philosophy, Theory and Method of Science of Nature-Human-Society’ is the focal theme of the IX All Indian Young Scientists Convention. Young Scientists of all subjects of Science of Nature-Human-Society and UNSDG2030 are welcome to contribute papers and participate in it. An interactive dialogues between young scientists and senior scientists will be held during the IX All India Young Scientist Convention.

Besides deliberating on the aforesaid focal theme, all the young scientists are welcome to write on issues/problems that they find difficult to handle and wish to consult the senior scientists. Such problems can be related to the doctoral/post doctoral research, fellowships, research environment, institute and faculties, placement after Ph.D, publication, language etc. One should submit a small note within 500 words on such issues. Arrangement will be made for interactive dialogues with senior scientists.

0500 SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

All young scientists working in universities, colleges, research Institutes, national/regional laboratories and CBOs and NGOs are cordially invited to submit their papers for presentation at the IX All India Young Scientists Convention. Paper can be either in Hindi or in English or in Kananda. Though there is no limit on the length of a paper, it would be ideal to put the abstract within 500 words and full paper within 5000 words.

0600 DATES OF SUBMISSION

All those who wish to participate in IX All India Young Scientists Convention are requested to submit abstracts of their papers before November 30, 2019 and the full papers before December 15, 2019. Papers/Proposals can be submitted even after December 15, 2019, but such papers may not be printed before the Convention. Late papers will be published after the Convention is over.

0700 REGISTRATION

All those whose papers/proposals are accepted for presentation at IX All India Young Scientists Convention shall be required to register latest by December 31, 2019. Local Young Scientists can register till January 10, 2020. All registered outstation delegates shall be provided free accommodation, transport, food, kits, etc. The local registered delegates shall not be provided accommodation and transport.

0800 TRAVEL SUPPORT

All those who are receving UGC/CSIR or other Fellowships having contingency grants or all those teaching in universities/colleges/research institutes shall be seeking travel support including registration fee from their contingency/project/institutions. Those who are not getting any fellowship should write to the General Secretary, Indian Social Science Academy. They will be considered for travel support in the event of availability of funds. They will be informed about it before the convention. All such young scientists should attach a bonafide and non-receipt of Fellowship certificates from their Registrar/Principal/Director etc.

0900 AWARDS, HONOURS

The best papers from the Young Scientists will be cited and awards shall be given. Specific inputs for incorporation into policy and further work by the concerned will be given with due acknowledgement and recognition in panel discussions.

1000 WHOM TO CONTACT?

Scientists or a group of scientists doing research on a new theme having newer theoretical and methodological and social implications are welcome to organize discussion on the same. Those interested in it are advised to send their proposals to the General Secretary before Oct 15, 2019. The proposer shall be its convener and should mobilize 5-10 participants having papers on the same theme. This kind of deliberations are meant for new emerging areas of research and theory. Those who are interested in organizing such discussions/dialogues are requested to contact the General Secretary of Indian Social Science Academy.
