Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) is a national Academy in the field of social sciences with its registered headquarters at Allahabad. It was established on August 15, 1974 with a view to appraising, integrating and disseminating scientific knowledge concerning man, society and nature in the concrete conditions of India and promoting unity between natural sciences, technology and social sciences.
Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) organizes Indian Social Science Congress (ISSC) every year with a view to discovering, developing and disseminating science of Nature-Human-Society through critical appraisal and integration of current research and theory in all subjects of science taught and researched in Indian Universities, Colleges, IITs, NITs, Regional Engineering Colleges, Medical Colleges, AIIMS, PGIs, NISERS, IISERS, CSIR, ICAR, ICPR, ICMR, ICSSR, ICHR and ICPR Institutes/Laboratories for making India and its peoples creative, self-reliant, prosperous and happy.

Major thrust of activities of the Indian Academy of Social Sciences involve building of a holistic theory of science of Nature- m an-Society through concerted interactive discourse, dialogue and exchange among natural scientists, agricultural scientists, biologists, social scientists, etc. ISSA places greater premium on Indian languages for communicating science.
